Jasmine Harless Hoffman, 97, longtime Clyde resident, passed from this life into eternal life, Saturday, December 26, 2020 in an Abilene hospice facility. At Jasmine's request, no memorial will be held.

Jasmine was born October 28, 1923, to James Claude and Claudie Pearl (White) Harless in Snyder, Texas. The family moved from Snyder to Callahan County in 1930 where she grew up. Upon graduation in 1942, she joined the war effort as a "Rosie the Riveter" working in a defense plant making B-24 Bombers. After the war, Jasmine worked at Franklin's Dress Shop in Corsicana, Texas. There she met her husband, Orval Hoffman. They married March 20, 1948, and soon returned to Callahan County. She accepted a job, that became her career in 1955 with Bowman Lumber Company in Clyde, which later became Abilene Lumber Company. Jasmine's strong work ethic and perseverance to see a task to completion served the company well for fifty-three years. Her cheerful attitude and smile captivated customers in the lumber business as their salesperson of choice.

Shortly before retiring, she and an 80 year old neighbor built a two-story garage apartment she counted as quite an accomplishment, in that they did all the framing, plumbing and roofing themselves.

Jasmine came of age in a time when character was everything. This is the legacy she leaves to these who cherish her memory; her son, best friend and caregiver, John Hoffman of Clyde; grandchildren, Britt Gibbs of Dallas and Auston Hoffman of Rowlett and their mother Sandy Russell Atchinson of Rowlett; great grandchildren, Lark and Reid Gibbs of Dallas; sister, Bettie Sue Harless of Amarillo; several nephews and nieces and a special neighbor and friend, Bobby Bales. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Orval in 1983; brothers, Cecil, Clint, Nathan and Jake and her sisters, Irene Mary Ellen and Nell.

Many were blessed for having shared her companionship – some for years, others a few months, or just a few days.
