J.D. Broadus, Jr., died Sunday, May 7, 2023, at the Clyde Nursing Home. Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the Clyde Methodist Church in Clyde with Monty Barnett officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Services are under the direction of Bailey-Howard Funeral Home in Clyde.

J.D. was born July 26, 1935, in Margaret, Foard County, Texas, to J.D. Broadus, Sr. and Ida Mae (Railsback) Broadus. He graduated in 1955 from Northside Community High School in Fargo, Texas. He married Zella Smith on June 9, 1956, in Fargo. They moved to Abilene from Vernon in 1962 and to Clyde in 1969. J.D. worked for Coca Cola, retiring in 1981 after 21 years. After that, he owned and operated Broadus and Sons Electric for several years. He was a member of the Clyde Methodist Church, Methodist Men and the Clyde Volunteer Fire Department. He and Zella took care of the maintenance and custodial needs for the church for over 30 years.

J.D. is survived by three sons, Johnny B. Broadus and wife Beth of Clyde, Ronnie C. Broadus and wife Ashley of Baird and Lonny E. Broadus and wife Cindy of Eula; one sister, Treva Tucker of Vernon; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 1-1/2 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Zella; and one brother, Charles Broadus.
