Jennie Lea Malaer, 60, of Baird, formerly of Abilene, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023, in an Abilene hospital. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Bailey Howard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Hills officiating.

Jennie was born August 31, 1963, in Portsmouth, Virginia to Bobby Joe and Valla Lynelda (Faulkenberry) Swafford. She graduated from Rotan High School and went on to earn her cosmetology degree. She married Joe Malaer in Rotan on July 11, 1992. Jennie loved life and her grandchildren and would do anything for any of them.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Joe Malaer; sons, Albert Garcia of Baird and Joe Garcia and wife Tibitha of Marion; secondhand son, Billy Wright and wife Jodi of Powderly; two sisters, Joy Coleman and husband Bion of Sweetwater and Jacquie McCrosky and husband Don of Magnolia; grandchildren, Lily Garcia, Erin Garcia, John Emmitt Garcia and Maci Garcia; secondhand grandchildren, Jayden Chrzanowski and Remington Olson; nephews, Bion Coleman and wife Casey, Tim Coleman and wife Leah, Michael McCrosky, Christopher McCrosky and wife Linda, Randy Swafford and Ryan Swafford and wife Amanda; niece, Amy Coleman and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Jennie was preceded in death by her parents, Bobby and Valla and her brother, Bobby Joe Swafford, Jr.
