John William (J.W.) Schlee, 77, of Clyde passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at his home. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Clyde First Baptist Church with Dr. Toby Henson officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at St. John's Cemetery in Priddy, Texas.

J.W. was born January 6, 1947, in Hamilton, Texas to John Adolph and Walda (Kunkel) Schlee. He graduated from Priddy High School and earned his bachelor's degree from Tarleton State University. He married Jan Watters in Goldthwaite on August 27, 1966. His career as a vocational agricultural teacher spanned 33 years in Roscoe, Fluvanna, and Westbrook, respectively. After retirement, they moved from Colorado City to Clyde in 2009. He served on the Clyde City Council from 2012 until 2020 and on the Economic Development and EMS Boards. J.W. was a member of the Clyde First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Jan Schlee; one son, John Scott Schlee and his wife Courtney of Cedar Hill, TX; sister, Ethelene Specht of Haughton, Louisiana.

J.W. was preceded in death by his parents, his son Brandon Schlee, and his sisters Rubeline Lubke, Charlene Smith, and Marilyn Seider.
