Obituary

John Ed Stewart, 78, of Frankston, died Wednesday, August 25, 2021.  Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 2021, at the Ft. Phantom Hill Cemetery, north of Abilene, with Owen Sharp officiating.  Services are under the direction of Bailey-Howard Funeral Home of Clyde.

John was born November 3, 1942, in Abilene, to Alvin Sam and Minnie Marie (Campbell) Stewart.  He graduated from Abilene High School.  He married Virginia Lee Patterson on March 22 in 1969.  He retired from Goodyear in 2007 after 35 years of service as a tire builder.  John served in the Texas National Guard was a member of the Church of Christ.

John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Virginia Stewart, of Frankston, Texas; one daughter, Brandi Malone and husband Jason of Frankston; one son, Matthew Stewart of Houston; four  brothers, Walter Stewart and wife Marlene of Las Cruces, NM, Alvin Stewart and wife Darlene of Vacaville, CA, Ronnie Stewart and wife Donna of Houston and Lynn Stewart and wife Geraldine of Abilene; one sister-in-law, Jennifer Whitley and husband John of Frankston; and one brother-in-law, Charlie Patterson of Frankston; eight nephews, David Stewart and wife Connie of Las Cruces, Kenny Stewart of Vancouver, WA, Kenneth Stewart of Houston, TX, Shawn Stewart of Abilene, TX, Jermey Stewart of Abilene, TX, Kyle Dezern and wife Sarah of Trenton, TX, Jake Dezern and wife Jessica of Los Fresnos, TX, and Steven Whitley and wife Kristy of Palestine TX; seven nieces, Vicki McKay and husband David of Idaho Falls, ID, Sandy Santana and husband Dudley of Parker, CO, Alexandra Lanicek and husband Wayne of Rosebud, TX, Paula Seddon of Houston, TX, Cynthia Stewart of Houston, TX,  Stacy Rains and husband Rodney of Whitehouse, TX, and Sarah Hernandez and husband Mark of Hempstead; and many great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Alvin & Minnie Stewart; and one brother, Bobby Stewart.
