Johnny Franklin Sawyer, 82, of Clyde, died Thursday, November19, 2020, at his daughter's home in Clyde.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2020, at the Bailey Howard Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Charles Michael Hudson officiating.  Visitation will be before the service from noon until service time at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will be at later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Johnny was born May 26, 1938, in Swift, Missouri, to Walter Martin and Pearl Marie (Phillips) Sawyer.  After graduating from Coloma, Michigan, high school, he enlisted in U.S. Naval Reserve, being honorably discharged, at which time he joined the U.S. Army serving until 1961.   He was a heavy-duty mechanic having worked for Rock Tenn and Holt Machinery among others.  Johnny was a faithful Christian as a member of the Seventh Day Adventists Church.  He came to Clyde from Branson, Missouri in October of 2019.

Johnny is survived by seven daughters, Kelly Johnene Sawyer of Dell, Texas; Kathryn Annette Sawyer-Benthal of Davison, Michigan; Amanda Marie Stepps of Eula; Miranda Pearl Sawyer of McKinney; Hollie Davidson of Casa, Arkansas; Carrie Elizabeth Hoffman of Blue Eye, Missouri; and Christina Michelle Word of Clyde; one brother, Tommy Sawyer of  Mooresville, North Carolina; one sister, Carolyn Ludlam of Crystal River, Florida; three former wives, Mary Francis Timmerman, JoAnn Ferguson and Christina Marie Boyd; 15 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren,

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Moreus John Sawyer; and two brothers, Raymond and Gerald Sawyer.
