Josie Fay Franklin, 87, of Clyde passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at the Clyde Nursing Center. A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Kendrick Cemetery in Denton Valley with Chaplain James Crim officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Visitation will be from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Josie was born October 1, 1935, in Denton Valley to Harlon Lewis and Nayta Ada (Williams) Davis. She attended school in Denton Valley and married Charles Odus Franklin in Putnam on May 13, 1953. They were lifelong residents of Clyde and Denton Valley and members of Denton Valley Baptist Church. Josie taught Sunday School, Bible School and was a song leader and played piano for the church. She worked at Grandma's House in Clyde tending to infants for many years. One of her greatest accomplishments was being a housewife and mother.

She is survived by her son, Odus Martin Franklin and wife Chanthy of Sunrise Beach; three daughters, Debra Franklin Boutwell and husband Allan of Utopia, Vicky Franklin McKenzie of Clyde and Cindy Franklin Santaw and husband George of Austin; one sister, Joan Huddleston and husband Adrian of Clyde; nine grandchildren, Cody and Khris Franklin, Coy King, Jason Givens, Michael Boutwell, Heather Clemens, Ashley Lee, Elizabeth Poultan and Amanda Mascall; nineteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Josie was preceded in death by her parents, Harlon and Nayta; her husband, Odus; brother, J.L. Davis; four sisters, Jean, Rose, Jelora and Reba; her granddaughter, Katy Nicole Lee and two grandsons, Cason Poultan and Hunter Clemens.
