Judy Kay Tate, 78, of Baird, died Thursday, June 9, 2022, in Abilene. A memorial / visitation will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde.
Judy was born February 3, 1944, in Abilene, Texas, to J.C. and Katie Goodrich Welch. She was a 1962 graduate of Cooper High School, received her bachelor's degree from North Texas State and her master's degree from the University of Texas Science Center in Dallas. She married Jerry Tate on January 7, 1989, in Richardson. They moved to Baird from Goldthwaite in 2012. Judy was a lead buyer for Neiman-Marcus, licensed polygraph technician, a probation officer for Dallas County and a loss prevention specialist for Eckerd Drug Company. Judy was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Abilene.
Judy is survived by her husband, Jerry Tate of Baird; one son, Bryan Tolliver and his life partner Hailey Oaks of Abilene; one stepson, Craig Tate and wife Mary of St. Louis, Missouri; one stepdaughter, Paula Mikkelsen and husband Steve of Seattle; one brother, J.C. Welch, Jr. of Abilene; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
