Kenneth Kay Newman, 79, of Putnam died Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at his home. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022, at the Putnam Community Center.
Ken was born January 24, 1943, in Grand Junction, Colorado to Alva Edward and Rose Hope (Mammich) Newman. He graduated high school in Oak Creek, Colorado. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the 101 st Airborne as a paratrooper. Ken owned and operated Ken Newman Telecommunications for 30 years. After his retirement in 1996, he went back to his roots and started farming and ranching in Putnam. He was an avid hunter and was a guide for several years. He also loved cooking for family and friends and never left anyone with an empty plate. He was a member of the Mormon Church and a previous member of the Putnam City Council.
He is survived by his son, Jeffery Paul Newman of Cisco; three daughters, Kristina Kay Newman and husband Jeffrey Olson of Westminster, Colorado, Anna Marie Wood and husband Michael of Fort Worth and Christal Rose Newman of Putnam; step-son, Gerald Pacheco of Denver, Colorado; brother, Clinton Newman and wife Peggy of Las Vegas, Nevada; sisters, Roberta Visto of Bakersfield, California and Sheila Abney of Pahrump, Nevada; sister-in-law, Sara Newman of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren, Adam Newman of Denver, Colorado, Jaydon Newman-Murr of Costa Rica, Courtney Pacheko, Kayla Pacheco and Kaytlin Pacheco and many other relatives and friends.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Rose; his son, Michael Wayne Hill; brother, Tom Newman and sisters, Betty Morlan, Ruth White and Kelley Sue Abney.
