LaVonne Kirkendall Reed, 85, of Abilene passed to her Heavenly Home Sunday August 31 at Hendrick Hospice, after a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by loving family members. A graveside service will be held Saturday Sept. 6th at 10:00 AM in Clyde Cemetery directed by Bailey Howard Funeral Home.

LaVonne was born October 7, 1939, at Hendrick Hospital Abilene to J.V. Kirkendall and Loleta (Jordan) Kirkendall. She graduated from Clyde High School as Salutatorian of her class in 1958, leading her classmates to observe a yearly reunion for many years keeping all close. She worked in varied employment over the years including Abilene Reporter~News, Oil Transport, Clyde ISD, City of Clyde, People's State Bank and Hendrick Medical Center. She was a member of Clyde First Baptist Church for some 75 years and volunteered at church and school for decades.

She met and married the love of her life, William R. (Bill) Reed in 1987, living happily in Abilene until his demise in 2003.

LaVonne is survived by one son, Randy Cummings of Abilene, one daughter, Rhonda Cummings Pfeffer and husband John of Abilene, one grandson, Jason Allison of Abilene, one sister, Dorothy Sipes and husband Jeff of Granbury, one niece Melissa Reeves and husband Ted, one nephew Chris Brown and fiance Kara, numerous cousins
and her Aunt Angie Jordan who is 100 years old.

She was predeceased by her parents and one brother, Charles D. Kirkendall and many close friends and family.
