Lawrence (Larry) Clay Toponce, 73, of Clyde passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2023, at Bailey Howard Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dennis Chappell officiating.

Larry was born February 18, 1950, in Childress to Emmett and Annie (Anderson) Toponce. He attended Amarillo High School and served in the U.S. Army. He married Judy Notgrass in Corpus Christi on November 10, 1973. He worked for Land Air Express as a truck driver for over 20 years. They moved to Clyde from Coleman in 2016.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy Toponce; two sons, Chris Toponce and wife Susan of Abilene Shane Toponce of Amarillo; two daughters, Wendy Klohn and husband Jerry of Abilene and Toni Shoemaker and husband Chuck of Amarillo; brother, John Stone; sister, Nancy Arredondo; eleven grandchildren, Austin, Zoey, Stormie, Ethan, Ashton, Matthew, Connor, Elizabeth, Brittney, Jonathan and Brandon and eight great grandchildren, Mikayla, Kenleigh, Crystal, Hazel, Charlotte, Amari, McKenzie and Jordan.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Annie; two sisters, Donna Coleman Cook and Sandra Israel.
