Leland Anderson Howell, 51, of Camas, Washington passed away peacefully while visiting his parents Bob and Carrie Howell in Abilene. Leland's life will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2019 at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene with Jeffrey Nix officiating.

Leland began his life in Commerce, Texas on December 29, 1967 to Bob and Carrie (Nix) Howell. Being the son of a father who was a coach, a principal and superintendent at schools across Texas, his family moved several times before he graduated from Clarendon High School. After high school, he attended the Naval Academy, where he became a nuclear engineer, serving on the submarine U.S.S. Georgia. After his service in the Navy he graduated from ACU with a degree in math and physics. He had taught at Trent High School and Intel as a mechanical engineer.

He married Lori Lassiter in Abilene on June 3, 1989. They moved from Austin to Camas, Washington in 2001. He was a member of East County Church of Christ. His life will be celebrated by his wife of nearly 30 years, Lori Howell; two sons, Bo and Jared; two daughters, Lexa and Elise; parents, Bob and Carrie Howell; brother Dyron and many other relatives and friends.
