Obituary

Lilburn (Mickey) Mitchell Sharpe, 58, of Abilene died Monday, January 6, 2020 in Abilene. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene with Pastor Jerry McNeill officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00 until 6:30 p.m. at the Refuge Ministries, 6010 US 277 S, Abilene.

Mickey was born November 30, 1961 in Bristol, Virginia to Roscoe Lilburn and June (Booher) Sharpe. He graduated from high school in Tennessee and earned his Associates Degree from TSTC. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as Staff Sergeant after 21 years of service. He was a member of the NCOA and VFW, where he was also a Chaplain. After retiring from the Air Force, Mickey was a truck driver for over 20 years.

He is survived by his mother, June Sharpe of Bristol, Tennessee; his son, Daniel Sharpe and wife Tisha of Abilene; brother David Lee Sharpe and wife Teresa of Bristol, Tennessee; sister Donna Hammett and husband David of Ashville, North Carolina and many other relatives and friends.

Mickey was preceded in death by his father.
