Linda Jo Piland, 74, of Clyde passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, February 16, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Clyde First Baptist Church with Dr. Toby Henson officiating under the direction Bailey Howard Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Clyde Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Linda was born June 15, 1949, in Amarillo to Joe and Mary (Blackwell) Womble. She graduated from Abilene High School and earned her BA in education from Hardin Simmons University. She married the love of her life, Ronal (Ron) Piland, in Abilene on May 31, 1968. She taught at Wylie ISD for 14 years and retired after 15 years from Clyde Intermediate. She was an active member of Clyde First Baptist Church. She volunteered at Love and Care Ministries and Clyde Senior Citizens Center. She was an avid sports fan, attending as many of her grandkids and nephews sporting events she could. She was a huge Texas Lady Longhorns fan. She loved doing crossword puzzles and playing games with her family and friends.
She is survived by three sons, Scott Piland and wife Melissa of Temple, Barry Piland and wife Shaylee of Tuscola and Michael Piland and wife Brittany of Fort Worth; one brother, John Womble and wife Connie of Abilene; seven grandchildren, Braxten Piland, Walker Piland, Alex Burling, Evan Burling, Allison Piland, Avery Piland and Annalee Piland; two nephews. Jeffrey and Todd Womble and many other relatives and friends.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ronal.
