Obituary

Lorita Fay Matthews, 91, of Clyde, formerly of Abilene, died Friday, April 15, 2022, at her home. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Northwest Church of Christ, 1141 N. Willis in Abilene.

Lorita was born March 27, 1931, in Abilene to Bobby and Pearl (Graham) Loving. She graduated from Wylie High School in 1948 and married Lewis E.J. (Sonnyboy) Matthews in Abilene on July 25, 1948. Lorita worked for Thornton's Department Store in the 1950's and for Southwestern Bell as a clerk for her husband for nine years. She loved to crochet and cross stitch, making many things for her family throughout the years. She was a member of GR Abilene TX USBC for 62 years in Abilene, Amarillo, Fort Worth and Lubbock and also a member of Northwest Church of Christ.

She is survived by two sons, Christopher Lewis Matthews of Alvarado and Richard Don Matthews and wife Debra Ann of Burleson; daughter, Brenda Fay Comer and husband Terry Lee of Clyde; seven grandchildren, Dene Matthews and wife Angel, Laura Matthews, Paul Matthews, Tyler Matthews and wife Angie, Evan Matthews, Terry "Boogie" Comer and wife Leslie and Natalie Nickerson and husband Steven; ten great grandchildren, Aidan, Ella, Dalton, Ethan, Ty, Jordan and wife Rylee, Caleb, Tristan, Melody and Granger "Buck" and several nieces and nephews.

Lorita was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother, Gerald Loving.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Hospice of the Big Country or Northwest Church of Christ.
