Marnell "Nell" B. Shelnutt, 94, of Clyde died Sunday, February 5, 2023, in an Abilene care center. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, February 9, 2023, at the Clyde Cemetery with Dr. Mike Auten officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Nell was born December 9, 1928, in Ropes, Texas to E. F. and Lula Belle (Solomon) Brown. She graduated from Baird High School and married Eston Shelnutt in Abilene on March 1, 1946. She moved to Clyde from Baird in 1946, and a member of the Cowboy Heritage Church. She worked in home healthcare for several years and had previously worked at the Clyde Candy Sucker Factory.

She is survived by three sons, Dewayne Shelnutt and wife Gay of Kingsland, Danny Shelnutt and wife Deborah of Seguin, and Deryl Shelnutt and wife Robin of Forreston; one daughter, Linda Walls of San Angelo; two brothers, Paul Brown of Abilene and Loyd Marshall Brown of Graham; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Nell was preceded in death by her husband Eston in 2018; four brothers, Jinx, Eldon, Dale and Gerald Brown; two sisters, Juanita Wilson and Charlotte Kilpatrick.
