Martin "Marty" Luther Clifford, III of Clyde left his time on this earth on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, in an Abilene hospital. The family will be holding a celebration of life at a later date.

Marty was born October 3, 1956, in Big Spring to Martin Luther (M.L.) Clifford, Jr. and Eddie Faye Brecheen. The family lived in numerous West Texas towns and relocated to Clyde around 1968 from New Braunfels. He was a 1975 Clyde High School graduate. He enjoyed all sports, whether he was competing or watching others. He was a proud Clyde High School sports fan. He loved his family but was proudest of watching his son play music and sometimes playing together. He loved traveling in his RV and attending various music venues, like Western Swing and Bluegrass. He also had a love for classic cars and trucks.

Marty was employed at Aileen's, Lockheed Martin, Sino Swearingen Aircraft, then self-employed with commercial loans until retiring in 2018. He married Mary Poer on December 27, 1977. They were blessed with a son, Jes Clifford, on June 19, 1995. He married his current wife, Debra Pierce, on May 14, 2019.

He is survived by his wife, Debra Clifford of Clyde; his first wife, Mary Clifford; his son, Jes Clifford of Austin; two sisters, Darla Ferguson and husband Douglas and Patria Fryhover and husband Don, all of New Braunfels; brother-in-law, DeWayne Pierce and wife Carol and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marty was preceded in death by his parents, M.L. and Eddie Faye.
