Mary Ruth Baty, 93 of Clyde, died Friday, October 14, 2022, at University Place in Abilene. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2022, at First Baptist Church, Clyde. Burial will follow in Clyde Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, at Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde.
Mary was born August 26, 1929, in Bethel, Texas in Runnels County to Jordan Epperson and Callie Elizabeth (Dorsett) Gabbert. She graduated from Clyde High School and was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Clyde. She sang in the choir for many years, and taught Sunday School for over 45 years. Mary was a retired rural mail carrier in Abilene, TX. She was known for her jelly, salsa and rolls.
She is survived by two sons, Jerry Cutbirth and his wife Linda Cutbirth of Phoenix, Arizona, and Jack Byrd of Austin, Texas; two daughters, Janie Seibold and husband Danny Seibold of Fort Worth, Texas and Sarah Gilliam of Springhill, Kansas; a daughter-in-law, Tammie Byrd of Weatherford, Texas; a brother, Bobby Alan Gabbert of Seattle, Washington and ten grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers; Charles, Jim, Floyd William and J.E. Gabbert, three sisters; Jody Becket, Jewel Click and Vada Wilburn and her son, Joe Byrd.
She was very much loved and will be deeply missed.
