Obituary

Mary (Wilma) Beasley, 96, of Clyde died Monday, November 12, 2018 in an Abilene hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 16, 2018 at the Clyde Church of Christ with Jim Hall and Dennis Bailey officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Clyde Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Wilma was born August 11, 1922 in Boggy Creek, Oklahoma to Lonzo and Lela (Jones) Shelnutt. She graduated from Clyde High School and later married Jessie Ray Beasley in Baird on July 4, 1942. They were married for over 64 years and in later years, when you saw Ray, you knew Wilma was somewhere around or would be there soon. She was a hairdresser in Abilene, where she owned her own shop. She had also owned Brownwood Welding Supply, along with her husband. She was a member of the Clyde Church of Christ.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Beasley and wife Sherry of Abilene and Curt Beasley and wife Libbie of Potosi; two daughters, Daphene Clark of Corpus Christi and Catherine Miller and husband Jeff of Granbury; sister-in-law Marnell (Nell) Shelnutt of Clyde; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Ray in 2006, sister Dorothy Gabbert and a great grandson Fredrick Austin Maxwell. Her brother, Eston Shelnutt, died the day after her death.
