Mary Ann Fortune, 79, of Abilene passed away Friday, December 26, 2025, in an Abilene care center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2026, at Bailey Howard Funeral Home Chapel with her son-in-law, Rev. Rickie Moore, officiating. Burial will follow in Hamby Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at the funeral home.

Mary Ann was born on September 5, 1946, in Abilene to Otis Williams, Jr. and Lillian Flodine (Woolf) Williams. She married Fred Fortune in Abilene on March 22, 1963. She worked for a few years at Abilene State School and previously worked at Timex. She was a member of Second Baptist Church of Abilene. Mary Ann loved camping, fishing, shopping and spending time with her family. Her favorite job was being a homemaker and taking care of her family and they all agree she was great at it and a fabulous cook.

She is survived by two sons, Freddy Fortune and Dennis Fortune and wife Angelia, all of Hamby; one daughter, Stephanie Moore and husband Rickie of Hamby; one brother, Jimmy Williams and wife Faye of Arlington; three sisters, Sharon Slaughter of Hamby, Anita Massey and husband Lee of Hamby and Jackie Soto of Abilene; eight grandchildren, Danielle Favor of Denton, Marcus Fortune of Sulfur Springs, Justin Fortune of Hamby, Cody Moore of Clyde, Travis Fortune of Abilene, Dakota Fortune of Abilene, Nathan Fortune of Abilene and Colton Moore of Hamby; two great grandchildren, Olivia Fortune and Knoxlee Fortune of Silver Springs and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Lillian Williams; her husband, Fred; two brothers, James and Otis Williams and her granddaughter, Courtney Moore.
