Mary Ruth McIntyre, 91, a longtime resident of Clyde, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Clyde First Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Auten officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Burial will follow at Oplin Cemetery.

Mary was born October 11, 1932, in May, Texas to Oda Lee (Boyd) and Wallace Johnson. She attended school in Oplin, graduated from Lwn High School and went on to attend Hardin Simmons University in Abilene. She later graduated from McMurry College with a degree in teaching, going on to teach at the Abilene State School. She married Paul Ray McIntyre in Oplin on January 6, 1951, and they enjoyed 53 years together before his death in 2004. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was known for her amazing hospitality and generous ways. She served her community in Clyde by teaching Sunday School at First Baptist Church. She also volunteered at the library and served as the president of the Woman's Study Club in Clyde.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Paul and daughter Patti Jo McIntyre Smith. Mary is survived by her daughter, Karan Willis and husband Steve of Midlothian; son-in law, Larry Smith of Stephenville and his wife Julie; six grandchildren, Cory Smith of Stephenville, Kaci Jones and her husband Wes of Stephenville, Jay Willis and his wife Chelsea of Aubrey, Jaxon Willis and his wife Leslie of Austin, Keaton Willis of Salt Lake City, Utah and Rose Willis Hilty and her husband Ryan of Midlothian; nine great grandchildren (Kali, Caleb, Connor, Garrett, Hayes, Liam, Crew, Graham and Sawyer) and niece, Diane Cedergren of Clyde.

Mary's family and friends treasure the times they spent together and the good times they shared.

The family would like to give special recognition and appreciation to Lola and the staff at Lola's Place Assisted Living in Stephenville for the loving care they provided Mary while she lived there.
