Obituary

He has shown you, O man, what is good;

And what does the Lord require of you

But to do justly, To love mercy,

And to walk humbly with your God.

Micah 6:8

Matlock W. Rose left this earthly home on Friday, June 12, 2026.

Matlock was born January 16, 1976, to Leon and Frances Rose in San Angelo, Texas where his big sister, Paula doted on him. He and his family moved to Clyde in 1980, where he attended Clyde schools, participating in many activities, such as sports, 4H, FFA, band and many more. As an adult, Matlock graduated from Abilene Christian University and worked for Coca Cola Bottling Company prior to working for AbTex Beverage/PepsiCo. When blessed with the opportunity, Matlock began working his family’s homestead full time with his dad, Leon Rose. Together they had many adventures, whether growing vegetables, attending cattle sales, working with his livestock or fixing up their older trucks. Matlock and his wife, Loree, met at church in January of 2014 and were married on July 3, 2014. While they may not have been married long, Loree has many memories to cherish. Matlock loved his family deeply and was always ready to spend time with his nieces and nephews. He loved attending their activities and was so proud of each one of them. When we remember Matlock, we remember his love to family, his hard work ethic, but above all, his love for God and his heart to share God with others.

Matlock was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Rose; paternal grandparents, Alfred and Lilly Rose; maternal grandparents, Frank and Clara Cowan and his uncle, Harry Cowan.

He is survived by his wife, Loree Rose; father, Leon Rose; his sister, Paula Kinslow and husband, Mike (children, Justin, Tara and Mikayla); father and mother-in-law, Don and Claudia Skiles; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Sarah Skiles (children, Geneva, Edwin and Emory); sister and brother-in-law, Jacob and Geneva Thomas (children, Kaden, Hagan, Sidonie and Callen); brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Sara Skiles (children, Renn and Penrose); sister and brother-in-law, Michal and Wanda Leddy; brother and sister-in-law, James and Jess Skiles and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, a great nephew, a great niece and many close friends whom he considered more family than friend.
