Melanie Joy Carter, 56, of San Angelo, formerly of Abilene, died Monday, October 8, 2018 at her home. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the Bailey Howard Funeral Home Chapel in Clyde.

Melanie was born December 8, 1961 in Denver, Colorado to Don Ray and Golda June Garrett. She graduated from Stamford High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Abilene. She moved to San Angelo from Abilene in early 2018.

Melanie is survived by her mother June Neff of San Angelo; father Don Garrett of Arlington; two sons, Adam Carter and wife Amanda of Fort Worth and Chad Carter of Abilene; sister Tricia McGuire and husband Houston of Miles; six grandchildren, Joshua Carter, Kayla Carter, Gunnar Carter, Kaitlyn Carter, Blaze Carter and Khia Carter; nephews, Trace and Dillan Slauenwhite; and her two poodles, Rogue and Bozie.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bill and Bertha Hager and Garth and Ocie Garrett and her former mother in law, Patsy Bockman.
