Merle Bennett Ledford, 96, of Clyde passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at her home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Clyde Cemetery with Dr. Toby Henson and Chaplain Jim Hargrove officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ledford was born in Limestone County, near Groesbeck, Texas. She formerly lived in Dallas, Lubbock and Abilene. She had lived in Clyde since November 1971. She was a member of Clyde First Baptist Church and was the widow of Ernest B. Ledford, whom she married April 25, 1947, in Dallas. She was also one of the founding members of the Clyde Woman's Club and was very active in the Clyde Community, which she loved.

She is survived by one son, Galen Lynn Ledford of Clyde; one grandson, Russell Lynn Ledford and wife Meagan Dutton of East Peoria, Illinois; two great grandchildren, Triston Ledford and Jaxon Ledford, both of East Peoria, Illinois and one niece, Sherry Rucker of Boca Raton, Florida.
