Mitch Brown, 65, of Abilene, died Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.  Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2022, at the Hwy. 36 Church of Christ with Greg Melton officiating.  Burial will follow in the Potosi Cemetery under the direction of Bailey-Howard Funeral Home in Clyde.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mitch was born November 12, 1956, in Abilene to Gerald Clayton Brown and Linda (Allen) Brown.  He was a 1975 graduate of Wylie High School and lived most of his life in Abilene.  He married Cindy Freeman on February 25, 1977, at his parents' home in Abilene.  Mitch was employed with Hendrick Medical Center and McMurry University.

Mitch had many loves in his life.  He enjoyed being outdoors and spent many hours fishing and hunting.  He had a passion for building and racing classic cars and hot rods, as long as it was a Chevy, of course.  He was a devoted husband to his partner in crime and fishing buddy of 45 years, Cindy.  But his greatest joy and love was his grandchildren. "His girls" always made their GPaw proud and could ALWAYS make him happy.  Aggravating each other was definitely their favorite past time.  He was a loud, loving, softhearted teddy bear who loved his country and family with great passion.  He can never be replaced in our hearts and will be forever missed.

Mitch is survived by his wife, Cindy Brown of Abilene, his son, Dustin Brown and wife Tracy and their children Taylor Pugh, Tatum Brown, Katlyn Brown and Addison Brown of Clyde; his daughter, Breanne Brown and James Day and their daughter Laikyn Day of Abilene; his brother, Kirk Brown and wife Teri of Abilene; his mother, Linda Brown of Abilene; and many, many aunts, uncles, in-laws and nieces and nephews.

Mitch was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Brown; his son, Matthew Allen Brown; and his daughter Amy Renee Brown.

The family would also like to express their gratitude to Dr. Anton Melnyk and his staff at Texas Oncology for their loving care and kindness during his 10 year battle.
