Nancy Ruth Moore, 77, of Ovalo died Thursday, November 17, 2022, in an Abilene care center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the Eula United Methodist Church with Pastor Cory Graham officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Burial will follow in the Eula Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Nancy was born July 2, 1945, in Abilene to the late William Alexander and Lola Ruth (Brock) Scarbrough. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1963 and McMurry College in 1967. She lived most of her life in the Abilene area except for a few years she lived in Lamesa. Nancy's 35-year teaching career was mainly with Abilene ISD but also included Lamesa, Baird, Hamby, Clyde and at the Abilene State School. She was a delegate to the annual Methodist Church Conference for 15 years and the pianist for the Eula United Methodist Church for 44 years. Her love of music began at an early age with band starting in Junior High and High School in Abilene, through McMurry College and culminating with 43 years with the Abilene Community Band. She also loved history and was known by many as the family historian.
She is survived by her son Kevin Moore and Karen of Abilene; brother, Don Scarbrough and wife Debbie of Garland; grandson Robert Moore, and his sister Helen, both of Abilene; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
