Neldon Jo Patterson, 95, of Abilene died Tuesday, June 22, 2021 in an Abilene nursing home. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene with Dr. Richard Beck officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Neldon Jo was born July 11, 1925 in Telephone, Texas to Charles Edward and Bessie Mae (Furguson) Keene. She grew up in the Hodges and Anson area and graduated from Anson High School in 1940. She later moved to Clyde and worked as church secretary for Cherry Heights Baptist Church of 15 years and for Millerman & Millerman Insurance Agency for 13 years. She moved back to Abilene from Clyde in 2001. She was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son Herb Patterson, Jr. and wife Nancy of Abilene; daughter Donna Goble and husband Jack of Abilene; grandchildren, Jaclyn Jones and husband David of Abilene, Amanda Monsey and husband Jason of Clyde, Brent Patterson and wife Lauren of Houston, Christie Bird and husband Les of San Angelo and Cathy Suarez and husband Steve of Charlotte, North Carolina; great grandchildren, Chrissy Parra and husband Ryan, Kade Goble, Bryson Monsey, Aubreigh Monsey, Amber Patterson, Ashlyn Patterson, Lauren Walker and husband McKennon, Gracie Bird, Jared Santiago, Jacie Santiago, Brayden Bird, Drake Patterson and Sara Patterson; great great granddaughter, Leighton Paige Bird and numerous nieces and nephews.
Neldon Jo was preceded in death by her sisters, Faye Hall and Modell; brother Ray Keene and grandson Jeffrey Goble.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
