Norma Joan Dodson, 81, of Baird passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024, in an Abilene hospital. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 12, 2024, at Bible Baptist Church in Clyde with Pastor Larry Hooper officiating.
Joan was born January 16, 1942, in Abilene to Edwin Lee and Mary Iola (Parker) O'Dell. She graduated from Wylie High School. She married the love of her life, Tommy Ray Dodson, in July of 1960. She worked for Ben E. Keith as a secretary for many years. She had previously worked for Southwestern Bell in Pasadena. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Clyde. She was the singer and keyboard player for Cross Country Jubilee, and they played at many venues including restaurants, nursing homes and churches.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Tommy Dodson; three children, Thomas Randall Dodson and wife Ginger of Killeen; Cindy Dodson of Clyde and Terry Perkins of Lubbock; two sisters, Linda O'Dell Foster of Abilene and Cathy O'Dell Clement and husband Jim of Cedar Park; ten grandchildren, Ryan Dodson, Evan Dodson, Nolan Dodson, Kaitlin Dodson, Miranda Watson, Melody DeLeon, Megan Skinner, Cassie Walker, Kristin Beaman and Justin Skinner, seventeen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Digger and Mike O'Dell and two sisters, Mary Ledbetter and Patty Visage.
