Penny Etta Johnson, 78, of Baird died Sunday, July 7, 2019 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at the Bailey Howard Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Jim Hargrove officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Penny was born March 17, 1941 in Louisville, Kentucky to Larry and Lovella (Osborne) Higgins. She went to school in Pyote and later received her cosmetology license from Cisco Junior College. She married Ray Johnson in Lubbock on December 6, 1959. They moved to the Callahan County area in 1977. She worked as a caregiver, a cosmetologist and in retail for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clyde and the Southside Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ray Johnson of Baird; two sons, Stephen Johnson of Fort Worth and Scotty Johnson of Baird; three grandchildren, Stephanie and Christopher Johnson and Joshua Earnest; sister Lucky Lynn of North Carolina; sister-in-law Beth Brown of Eustace; cousins, Onella and Randy Chance of Monahans and many other relatives and friends.

Penny was preceded in death by her daughter Sebrenia.
