Obituary

Reagan Leon Sewell, 83, of Clyde and formerly of Cushing, Texas, died Thursday, March 19, 2026, at his home in Clyde.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Reagan was born March 2, 1943, in Clear Lake, Texas, to Henry and Marie (Smith) Sewell.  He was a graduate of Reagan High School in Houston and a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches.  Reagan was the widower of Helen Butler Sewell whom he married on September 6, 1963, in Houston.  He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a member of Central Baptist Church in Cushing, Texas.

Reagan was an educator and a Baptist minister for more than 50 years.  He taught in Lindale, Woden, Chireno, Cushing, New Summerfield and Clyde, and served as pastor for Baptist churches in San Augusine, Woden and Cushing.

Reagan is survived by his son, Reagan F. Sewell and wife April of Clyde; his daughter, Tracy Barton of Clyde; four grandchildren, Dylan Barton and wife Jennifer Avila of Garrison, Texas, Paige Phillips and husband Dalton of Cushing, Texas, Meagan Richardson and husband Jonathan of Abilene and Tanner Barton of Garrison, Texas; and four great-grandchildren, Whitt Stokes, Easton Richardson, Greyson Richardson and Juliana Barton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Marie Sewell; his wife, Helen Sewell; his granddaughter, Chloe Sewell; and four brothers, Perry, Ricky and infant twin brothers.
