Rita Kay Covington, 68, of Clyde passed away Saturday, November 22, 2025, in an Abilene hospital. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Prairie Mound Cemetery, 1006 4th St., Argyle, Texas 76226.
Rita was born January 4, 1957, in Grapevine to Cecil and Georgia Bell (Frank) Cross. She graduated from high school in Grapevine. She worked as a night auditor for Motel 6 and for a few years as a realtor until she had to retire due to health issues. She loved her kids, grandkids and great grandkids deeply and loved spending time with them all. She had an open door and has taken care of many going through tough times over the years. She loved to feed everyone and was crazy about the lottery.
She is survived by six daughters, Venus Sunshine Braum of Granbury, Spring Rae Wheeler and husband Danny of Baird, Christal Starlite Smith and husband Robert McKinley of Baird, April Dawn Miller of Baird, Margie Marie Georgia Lopez and husband James Shaw of Keene and Cecilia Star Hernandez Faust and husband Zachary of New Rochelle, New York; her aunt, Mildred "Aunt Toad" of Ennis; one sister, Jo Faith Barnett; sister-in-law, Judy Cross of North Richland Hills; eleven grandchildren, Samantha, Mario, Daniel, Alyshia, Jacob, Danny "Lil' D", Keelie, Katie, Matthew, Riley and Emily; five great grandchildren, Everly, Leo, Miley, Athena and Creedence.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Georgia Cross, her brother, Wayne Cross and her husband, Robert Miller.
