Robert Gayle Howe, 66 of Clyde TX, affectionately known to all as Bobby, passed away on Sunday September 9th along with his son Daniel Justin Howe in a motor vehicle accident.
Bobby was born in Blanket, TX on 9/15/1951 to James Edward and Doris Bonita Petross, and he graduated the class of 1970 from Clyde High School.
It was love at first sight for Bobby, on August 5th, 1972, when he met a beautiful red head in a Red Barn Restaurant and he pursued Bonnie Mae Hays until she relented and they were married on May 5th, 1973 in Graham, TX. Bonnie will miss her better half, his long-winded stories and his half-finished projects.
Bobby was a big man with a heart the size of Texas. He touched the lives of everyone who crossed his path. Everyone was affected by his generosity, his country ingenuity and his sense of humor. Known as PawPaw to his grandchildren and great grandchildren he always made time for each and every one and made sure they felt special. He attended all their sports and scout functions and smiled big with pride at all their accomplishments. He was the best PawPaw any kid could have; he always knew what they needed, whether it be a heart to heart conversation, a trip to the donut shop, chocolate chip cookies when mom said no, or texting a silly joke.
Regardless of how long any foster children came to be part of our family he was always PawPaw whether they were with us only several weeks or longer he accepted them with open arms and showered them with love
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother James Edward Howe and survived by his wife of 45 yrs. Bonnie Howe of Clyde, TX, his sister Nancy Spence-Rose of Abilene, TX, his daughter Donna Monsey and her husband Kevin Monsey of Clyde, TX and their children, Joshua Conner, Callie Monsey, Makenlie Monsey, Hollie Monsey and Nicholas Monsey, his son Thomas Howe and his wife Nicola Howe of Garland TX and their children, Samone Howe, Collin Howe and Anniston Howe, his daughter in law Lindsey Howe and her children Brydon Howe, Gaven Howe and Gwyneth Howe, his granddaughter Mackenzie Rogers, and his great-grandchildren Xerayah, Marko and Camden.
He spent his early years as a long-haul truck driver and throughout his long career he held several positions as a large equipment operator hauling pipe, clearing brush fire lines, building roads, building stock tanks and clearing oil rig pads all over West Texas. Since 2008 Bobby was the owner, operator of Howe Excavation and recently Bobby was working on retiring from his own business and trying to convince Bonnie to retire. They had plans to begin traveling across the U.S. with their best friends Charlie and Janet Moon.
Visitation will be at Bailey-Howard Funeral Home in Clyde TX, on Saturday September 22nd from 4-7pm. Services are being held at First Baptist Church September 23rd at 2pm. The family will have a private internment of his ashes at a later date.
Our family appreciates the large out pouring of love and prayers, and we are all so overwhelmed by the support of the community.
