Robert "Bob or Buddy" E. Ruehling, 78, of Clyde, died Thursday, February 1, 2018, at an Abilene hospital.  He was a devoted husband and loving father. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2018, at the Texas State Veteran's Cemetery in Abilene with Jack Staples officiating.  Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Bailey-Howard Funeral Home in Clyde.

Bob was born on November 10, 1939, in Laager, Tennessee, to Eathel and Laura (Caldwell) Ruehling.  He was a graduate of Grundy County High School in Tennessee and attended Cisco Junior College.  Bob served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force.  He was a proud military veteran.  He married Barbara Sue Havner in Abilene on August 6, 1966, and they moved to Clyde from Ft. Worth in 1979.  Bob worked at Bell Helicopter for nine years.  He worked for Hendrick Medical Center in Plant Operations for 20 years, and for the City of Abilene for two years.  He was a member of the Hwy. 36 Church of Christ.

Bob is survived by his wife, Barbara Sue, of Clyde; three daughters, Bonnie Sue Mahoney and husband Gary of Houston, Donna Jean Stamper of Abilene and Robin Lynn Garcia and husband Mike of Abilene; three brothers, Carl Bailey and wife Ellen of Mississippi, Chester "Chet" Ruehling and wife Sibyl of Tennessee and William Ruehling and wife Cheryl of Tennessee; four sisters, Willie Mae Henry and husband Hobert of Iowa, Nellie Scissom of Tennessee, Betty Jones and husband Doug of Mississippi and Debbie Thomas and husband Ted of Tennessee; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his son-in-law, Jeff Stamper; and his brother-in-law, Stanley Scissom.
