Robert Ellis "Bob" Wood, 83 of Clyde, passed away Saturday in a local hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at Bailey Howard Chapel in Clyde, Texas.  Pastor Larry Mask will be officiating.  Graveside service and interment will follow at 2:00 p.m.at the Westbrook Cemetery in Westbrook, Texas. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bailey Howard Funeral Home in Clyde, Texas.

Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years, Glenda Marie Wood of Clyde; sons, Robert Wood and David Wood, both of Clyde; four grandchildren, Chance, Scott, Krystal and Katie; one great grandchild, Zaiden; former daughter-in-law, Gloria of Buffalo Gap along with several nieces and nephews.

Bob was born on October 24, 1938, in Coleman, Texas to Robert M. and Lillian Virginia (Hubbard) Wood. Bob graduated from Coleman High School in 1957.Bob was an active FFA participant and went on to work with kids in the FFA as Taylor County Lamb Livestock Commissioner.

Bob married Glenda Marie Taylor from Westbrook Texas on June 17, 1960. He and Glenda were members of the First Foursquare Church in Abilene for 36 years. They are currently members of the Assembly of God Church in Clyde.

Bob proudly served 6 years in the Texas National Guard 131st Field Artillery. Bob worked for Abilene Linen Supply for 32 years starting as a route salesman and retiring as general manager of Dickies W.C.R.S. He then moved on to become one of the first managers at French Robertson Unit, Texas Department of Corrections. His favorite position throughout his career was as caretaker of the Nagel Ranch in Driftwood, Texas. He managed the ranch for 7 years before he and Glenda retired to Clyde.

Bob enjoyed hunting and working with children at stock shows. Cooking was a favorite activity and his skills are still remembered by many. Bob was a very entertaining storyteller and loved an audience.
