Obituary

Ronald Wayne Thompson, 73, of Clyde died Thursday, April 18, 2019 at his home. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2019  at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Mr. Thompson will be in state from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 22, 2019 at the funeral home.

Ronald was born February 9, 1946 in Oakland, California to James Truman and Madge Marie (Crabb) Thompson. He graduated from Pampa High School. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam Era, stationed in Germany. During his service he worked on the defense systems on the aircraft. After his military service he worked as a mechanic and in the service and transportation industries. In his free time, he loved to work on restoring classic Ford vehicles. He also loved fishing, hunting and playing golf.

He is survived by his son Scott Macartney of Clyde; daughter Cheryl Thompson Allen of College Station; seven grandchildren, Tyler Macartney of Colorado, Ryan Macartney of Austin, Kory McNutt of Florida, Tyler, Tanner, Tate and Trace Allen, all of College Station and a special friend Terralynn (T.L.) Swafford of Clyde.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents.
