Ronny Dale Johnson, 73, of Abilene died Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at home. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 22, 2021 at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene with Pastor Robert Graven officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. He will be in state at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Saturday and 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday.

Ronny was born November 13, 1947 in Plainview to Robert Howard and Tommy Helen (Felty) Johnson. He graduated from Plainview High School and attended Texas Tech University. In 1964 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and later becoming plane captain in the Helicopter Combat Support Squadron 1.  October 29, 1967 he was authorized to wear the Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze star for his service in Vietnam.  He also served three years in the U. S. Marine Corps.  After serving nine years in the military, he worked as a title abstractor for over 25 years and later becoming truck driver safety trainer until retirement.

He married Debbie Alexander in Abilene on July 1, 2012 after being together for 20 years.

He was a member of the Catholic Church. Ronny loved the outdoors especially baseball, playing golf, camping, fishing, and going to the shooting range. He really loved his grandkids.

He is survived by his wife Debbie Alexander of Abilene; two sons, Jared and Jerame Johnson of Plainview; two step-sons Roger Alexander, Jr. and wife Michelle; Joshua Alexander and Lora, all of Abilene; brother Robert Johnson of Seattle, Washington; sister Sheila Phillips of Keller, Tx; grandchildren include Kelly, Logan, Gavin and Ashton Alexander; two step-grandsons Trent and Cayden and one step-granddaughter Peyton.

Ronny was preceded in death by his parents and his best friend Donnie Jones.
