Rufus Davis Graves, 89, of Eula died Saturday, July 10, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Bailey Howard Funeral Home Chapel in Clyde with Melvin Halford officiating. Burial will follow in the Eula Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Rufus was born December 9, 1931 in Hatchel to Joe Douglas and Lola Agnes (Keele) Graves. He graduated from Hatchel High School. He worked for Brunson Feed Mill on and off for 24 years. He later worked for Harris Acoustics, retiring after 34 years. He married the love of his life, Jeannette Halford, in Abilene in 1978.
He is survived by two sons, Russell Graves and wife Colleen of Abilene and Melvin Halford and wife Nhel of Silsbee; four daughters, Pam Wetter and husband David of Kentucky, Linda White and husband Greg of California, Gaylene Engen and husband David of Clyde and Sue Wilkinson of Clyde; brother, William Clay Graves and wife Patsy of Snyder; sister-in-law, Becky Brown of Kingsville; 21 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Rufus was preceded in death by his wife Jeanette; two brothers, Elbert Joe Graves and Douglas Graves; four sisters, Mary Lou Graves, Leah Faye Daniels, Little Alfie and Carrie Lou Graves; his son, Butch Graves and his daughter, Sheila Bailey.
