Obituary

Sandra Sue Prew, 82, of Abilene passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024, in an Abilene care center. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Sts. Joachim and Ann Catholic Church with Father Albert Ezeanya officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Burial will follow in the Clyde Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. with a rosary starting at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Sue was born October 20, 1941, in Wichita Falls to W.H. and Naomi (Brown) Perry. She graduated from Abilene High School and received her associate degree from Draughon's Business College. She married Gene Thomas Prew on March 30, 1963. She worked for the Abilene Women's Club, S&H Green Stamps, Abilene ISD and the House That Kerry Built. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many years. Sue had a servant's heart and wore many hats, but the one she held with the most pride was Granny Sue. She loved her grandkids and bonus kids at The House That Kerry Built.

She is survived by four sons, Raymond Prew and wife Cindy of Austin, Wade Prew of Elgin, Doug Prew and wife Kelly of Lexington and Michael Prew of Bastrop; one daughter, Debbie Pentecost and husband Coy of Abilene; one brother, Shelbern Perry of Midland; brother-in-law, Donald Prew of Mertzon; sisters-in-law, Sissy Miller and husband Donald of Clyde and Melinda Prew of Eula; seven grandchildren, Jarren Prew, Morgan Meyers and husband Trevor, Mandie Fritsche and husband Andrew, Kassie Prew and Jeremias Delgado, Stephanie Prew and fiancé Wes Woods, Joshua Prew and Daniel Moore and wife Ashley; eleven great grandchildren, Ryan, Hadley, Cami, Audrey, Casen, Paisley, Richard, Kaden, Emma, Charlotte and Carter Knox and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband Gene August 1, 2023; a grandson, Cody Pentecost; three brothers-in-law, Pat, James and Robert Prew and three sisters-in-law, Colleen, Brenda and Melba Prew.
