Scott Alan Van Gilder, 54, born on July 30, 1970, in Michigan City, Indiana, passed away on January 21, 2025, in Clyde, Texas.

Scott was a talented artist, had a sharp and infectious sense of humor, and loved music and reading.  He was passionate about health---competing on the swim team in high school and representing his fraternity in Indiana State University's annual trike and tandem races in college---as well as practicing yoga and running throughout his life. Scott was a steadfast and generous friend to all who knew him. His laughter, kindness, and warmth will be greatly missed.

A graduate of Elston High School in 1988, Scott continued his education at Indiana State University earning an undergraduate degree in Finance with a minor in French in 1992. He later achieved his MBA in International Business from DePaul University's Kellstadt Graduate School of Business. Scott's dedication to education and personal growth was evident throughout his life.

During his college years, Scott became a founding member of the Delta Tau Chapter of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity at Indiana State University. As part of the Alpha Class and serving as chapter president, he demonstrated exceptional leadership and built enduring friendships. His commitment to the fraternity extended beyond graduation as he volunteered with the national headquarters, served on the Honorary National Board of Trustees, and contributed to initiatives like the Great Lakes District Directory Books for Kids.

Scott's life was a testament to kindness and integrity. He found fulfillment as a certified yoga instructor and through his volunteer work with Peaceful Solution Character Education, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting peace and character development through education. These pursuits reflected his deep desire to enhance the lives of others.

Though Scott worked hard professionally, he cherished the simple life he created in Texas. His warmth and leadership left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Scott is survived by his parents Tom and Nancy (Kocikowski) Van Gilder of Michigan City, Indiana, sister Christy (Brandon) Watson of Meadows of Dan, Virginia, sister Marci (Michael) Rubin of Evanston, Illinois, niece Rachael Rubin, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins, and countless friends. May Scott's memory inspire those who were fortunate enough to share in his journey. No services are scheduled at this time.
