Richard Shane Adkins, 55, of Abilene, Texas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, July 3, 2026, at a hospice facility in Abilene.

Shane was born on July 22, 1970, in Abilene, Texas, to Peggy Preslar. He attended school in Clyde and went on to spend more than 20 years as a dedicated truck driver, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and love for the open road.

A proud Texan through and through, Shane enjoyed trucks, firearms, and the companionship of his beloved dogs. Above all else, he cherished his family. Some of his happiest moments were spent with those he loved, especially making memories with his treasured granddaughter, Peyton, who brought him immense joy.

Shane is survived by his mother, Peggy Preslar of Clyde; his two sons, Brandon Adkins and his wife, Corinne, of Converse, Texas, and Chris Adkins of Salem, Arkansas; his brothers, Cody Ray Leggett and his wife, Nicki, of Abilene, and Garrett Leggett of Gustine; his beloved granddaughter, Peyton Adkins; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Barbara Allen Preslar and Charles Ray Preslar, his father, Allen Ray Leggett and Mary Evelyn Leggett and Roy Leggett.

Shane will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of Texas, his unwavering devotion to his family, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew and loved him. His memory will forever be carried in the hearts of his family and friends.
