Sharon Dawn Barnes, 81, of Fort Worth passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2024, in a Fort Worth hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Bailey Howard Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Ross Cemetery in Baird. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Sharon was born July 2, 1942, in Abilene to Robert Gale (Babe) and Jettie Mae Gilmore. Sharon graduated from Cross Plains High School in 1960.  She then went on to be the first in her family to graduate from college, from Hardin Simmons University.  She graduated with a degree in medical sciences. Sharon worked as a medical technologist for many years.  She also worked as a caregiver for her mother, grandmother, and many others.

She is survived by her daughters, Myra Rains and husband Randy of Abilene and Darla Biddy and husband Stephen of Iowa Park; sister, Karon Dickie and husband Eddie of Seguin; brother Rick Gilmore and wife Jean of Clyde; grandchildren, Amber, Austin, Jared, and Darby; great grandchildren, Asher, Abe, and Ava; nieces, Kerri, Sarah and Leah, and nephew, David.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Marc.
