Obituary

Sharon Ann Williams, 69, of Abilene, died Sunday, August 25, 2019, at Hendrick Hospice.  Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at Bailey-Howard Funeral Home Chapel in Clyde with Rev. Kevin Duval and Brother Winston Roach officiating.  Burial will follow in the Clyde Cemetery under the direction of Bailey-Howard Funeral Home.

Sharon was born September 3, 1949, in Altus, Oklahoma, to George and Dessel (Riddle) Story.  She attended school in Paint Creek and later received her Master's degree from New Mexico Highland University.   She married Walter J. Williams in Lawton, Oklahoma, on June 18, 1987.  They moved from Artesia, New Mexico to Abilene in 2015.  She was a social worker for troubled children for many years and was a member of the Pentecostal church.

Sharon was a lover of music, both singing and playing.  Nothing was more precious to her than her entire family (that includes, husband, kids, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc.) spending every minute playing games (she reinvented the rules, too) and gathering to play music and singing together.  She was the melody that we all love and long to hear.

Sharon is survived by her husband of 32 years, Walter "Jay" Williams of Abilene; nine children, Clarence Robert Hager and wife Shea of Poteet, Mickey DeWayne Hager and wife Lucinda of New Castle, Kimberly Bhatti of Abilene, Billy Ray Williams and wife Tandy of Jourdanton, Courtney Munoz and husband Efrin of Hobbs, N.M., Walter Williams, Jr. and wife Elvie of Eastland, Esther Osteen and husband Jim of Carbon, Angie Honea and husband Eddie of Cisco, and Rodney Williams and wife Michelle of Mingus; 27 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren (with three on the way).

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, George and Dessel Story; her sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Travis Dickerson; her son, Elvie (James) Williams; and her grandson, Noah Miszkwitz.
