Steven Wade Carroll, 66, of Clyde passed away Tuesday November 5, 2024, at his home. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Highway 36 Church of Christ with Jon Schwiethale officiating.
Steve was born February 4, 1958, in Monahans, Texas to the late James and Mary (Glass) Carroll. He spent his school age years in Mississippi, Florida, and Michigan. He then went on to earn his Associate of Science Degree from Michigan Christian College. He worked for White Swan Institutional Foods and later became the Managing Partner for Sonic Drive-In for fifteen years on Sayles Blvd. in Abilene. While at Sonic he met, fell in love with and married Cathy Edmonson on March 26, 1993. After leaving Sonic he then got a delivery route with Mrs. Baird's Bread. After leaving Mrs. Baird's he became disable, however he would not allow this to stop him. He and Cathy worked a Church Bus Ministry. Then later went on to become foster parents to over 85 children. Then Steve got involved with the local Scouting organization where he became the Texas Trails Council Cub Master for pack 223 for many years. He was a member of the Scouts of America and the Highway 36 Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Cathy Carroll of Clyde; four children, Nate Carroll of Clyde, Vanessa Ramos and husband Robert of Clyde, Nicole Carroll of Clyde and Amy Carroll of Abilene; one brother, John Carroll and wife Lezlie of Auburn, Alabama; one sister, Pat Harper and husband Terry of Bella Vista, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Amaya and Everly Ramos and Ashley Carroll; niece, Erin Consuegra and husband Erik of Auburn, Alabama; nephew, James Carroll and wife Tara of Raleigh, North Carolina and many friends and extended family.
