Sue LaNell Martindale, 76, of Baird died Saturday, May 22, 2021 in an Abilene hospital. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2021 at the Bailey Howard Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Hooper officiating.

Sue was born March 5, 1945 in Coleman to Morris Clinton and Woody Louise (Tabor) Tolleson. She graduated from Castlebury High School in Fort Worth. She started her law enforcement career in 1978 in Tarrant County. She earned her Associates Degree in Criminal Justice, while  being a single parent and working as a fulltime officer. Sue moved to Baird from Fort Worth in 1993 and served as Deputy City Marshall. She started working for TDCJ in 1999, retiring in 2010.

She is survived by three children, Kathy Alene Ashcraft and Jeromy Burks of Peaster, Douglas Allan Martindale and Merry Johnson of Clyde and Paula Sue Roberts and husband Les of Abilene; sister Glenda Lee Webb of Weatherford; four grandchildren, Bryan Fulkersin, Marissa Beisner, Sara Burks and Taylor Roberts and one great grandson, Holden Fulkersin.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Norva Lynn Christopher.
