Sylvia Sue Bright, 71, of Abilene passed away Thursday, June 18, 2026, at an Abilene hospice facility. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2026, at Clyde Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde.

Sylvia was born September 15, 1954, in Electra to Elby Presley and Mattie Lois (Harmon) Cato. She attended Clyde Public Schools and earned her degree in cosmetology from Abilene Beauty School. She worked for Automation (later Lockheed Martin) for 14 years, until they closed. She had previously worked for Hendrick Medical Center in the billing department. Sylvia enjoyed cooking and journaling and loved spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by two sons, Christopher Don Bright and Todd Patrick Bright, both of Abilene; her brother, Mike Cato and wife Chiggy of Tow; two sisters, LaJoy Goyne of Abilene and Jo Harmon of Springtown; two granddaughters; one grandson; her sister-in-law, Beth Cato of Clyde and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Elby and Mattie Cato and four brothers, Valton, Billy Don, Gary and Alton Cato.
