Thomas James Ash, 91, of Baird, Texas passed away Thursday, October 31, 2024. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Pennsylvania.

Thomas was born October 5, 1933, in Catawissa, Pennsylvania to Noah and Ruth (Savage) Ash. He served in the US Army from 1950 until 1954. He married Rosa Marie Steigmann in Mannheim, Germany while stationed there in 1954.  Rosa passed away in March of 1997.  He later married Gayle Bowers in October of 2002, in Deer Lake, Pennsylvania.  Gayle passed away in September of 2021. Thomas had worked in road construction, pipe laying, coal mining and was foreman and loader operator at Atlantic Track. He was a maintenance worker for Wearever Pens and drove tractor/trailer for Ernst. He served as police chief for Deer Lake, Pennsylvania and as security police for Schuylkill Haven and Blue Mountain school games - all in Pennsylvania. After moving to Texas, Thomas was a member of the Hillcrest Church of Christ in Abilene, Texas.

He is survived by his daughter, Rosalie Post and her husband, Gregory Post, of Baird, Texas; son, Thomas N. Ash and his wife, Barbara, of Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania; grandson, Nathan Ash and his wife, Sabrina, of Lititz, Pennsylvania; granddaughter, Emily Burkett and her husband, David, of Thomasville, North Carolina; great granddaughters, Averie and Colbie Ash; great grandsons, Grey and Aiden Burkett; sister-in-law, Verna Ash, of Watsontown, Pennsylvania.
