Tommy Doyle Lackey, 71, of Abilene passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023, at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Nelson Park Festival Gardens, corner of ES 11th and Loop 322, Abilene, Texas, on Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 3, 2023, at Clyde Cemetery.

Tommy was born May 15, 1952, in Abilene to Ivan Phinney (Tom) and Sceina Ethel (Steele) Lackey. Tommy was the youngest in the family of ten children. He was very talented and loved music. He could sing and play any musical instrument but preferred the guitar and piano. In his younger days he toured with the "Lackey Brothers", Johnny and Buddy. He recently played with a local group, "The Dial Surfers". Tommy was very family oriented. His family was very special to him and he loved them very much. He never missed a family gathering and there were many. He loved the Lord and accepted Jesus Christ as his savior. He attended Aldersgate Methodist Church. He was dearly loved and will be missed by many.

He is survived by two brothers, Johnny D. Lackey of Abilene and Ivan Lackey of Magnolia, Texas; sister, Ethel Jackson of Abilene, Texas; sisters-in-law, Melba Lackey of Abilene, Texas and Judi Lackey of Magnolia, Texas; nine nieces and thirteen nephews and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Sceina Lackey; two brothers, George Wesley (Buddy) Lackey and William Glenn Lackey and four sisters, Barbara Ann Simon, Mary Elizabeth Allen, Vallie Carolyn Cox and Sandra Ilene Lackey Haynes.
