Trenia Dawn Thornton, 54, of Abilene passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2026, in an Abilene hospice facility. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Bailey Howard Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Murray Sauders officiating. Burial will follow in the Clyde Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Trenia was born June 20, 1971, in Gatesville to Jerry Don and Iona (Baldree) Penrod. She graduated from Jayton High School and attended Texas Cosmetology College and worked as a beautician for many years. Trenia married Steve Thornton in Baird on February 21, 1997. She was a member of the Clyde First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Steve Thornton of Abilene; six sons, Jerry Don Thornton and wife Lauryn of Clyde, Kody Thornton and wife Cameron of Clyde, Drew Parker and wife Carissa of Montgomery, Texas, Jake Thornton and wife Carcin of Abilene, Coleton McQuade and wife Anastasia of Abilene and Reno Thornton and wife Jordan of Granbury; three brothers, Keith Gruben of Abilene, Lance Parker and wife Anita of Baird and Heath Parker of Lubbock; five sisters, Dania Chisum of Abilene, Carolyn McCorkle and husband Marshall of Abilene, Michelle Kuehl of Santa Monica, California, Jo Christmas of England and Belinda Moore of Granbury; fifteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; her fur babies, Cowboy and Sam Elliott numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Trenia was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry Don and Iona; one sister, Devin Galloway and both sets of her grandparents.
