Obituary

Venita Bell, 88, of Clyde died  Tuesday, February 13, 2025 in an Abilene Care Facility.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 16, 2024, at Bailey Howard Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Willie Ford officiating.  Burial will follow in the Clyde Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Venita was born at home in Coleman County, Texas on October 25,1935, to Jesse O'Dell and Willie Loretta (Lee) Golson.  She graduated from Cross Plains High School in 1954, where she played basketball. Venita met the love of her life, Charlie Bell, when they were six years old. They became sweethearts while in junior high school and they married on June 5,1954, in Cottonwood.  From then until 1979, they lived in numerous places, including Arkansas and Taiwan.  Clyde became their home in 1979, where she worked at Motts for 17 years.  Venita enjoyed sewing and could make anything from her daughter's summer outfits, to wedding dresses and her son's Drum Major uniform. They were married for 60 years until Charlie's death in 2014. Venita enjoyed time with her family, sewing and attending church at Southside Baptist in Clyde.

Venita is survived by two daughters, Debbie Kilpatrick and husband Kelly, Sharon Lester and husband Donald and one son, Jeff Bell and wife Margie, all of Clyde; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; two sisters, Vondell Caldwell and Betty Lord; one brother, Tony Golson and wife Judy; brother-in-law, Ronnie Bell and wife Sharelynn; two sisters-in-law, Terri Bell and Kay Bell and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
