Veronica Lynn Vara, 48, of Eastland passed away surrounded by family Friday, May 27, 2022, in an Abilene hospice facility. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Eastland with Rev. Kevin Burrow officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church on Saturday.

Veronica was born May 1, 1974, in Houston to Ronald Steven and Roselynn Marie (Whitlock) Holmans. She attended school in Cisco. She married her high school sweetheart, Chester Vara, in Putnam on November 23, 1990. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Eastland. Veronica was very easy going and loved her family and horse ranching.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Chester Vara; three sons, Ronald Drake Vara, Andrew Juan Vara and Dante Deane Vara, all of Eastland; daughter, Tiffany Lynn Lechuga of Eastland; two sisters, Mickie Tolliver and husband Rodney of Houston and Denise Matheny and husband David of Copperas Cove; grandchildren, Logan Drake Vara, Zoey Lynn Vara, Justin Bradley Lechuga, Jace Matthew Lechuga, Taelynn Rose Lechuga, Kaysin Vara, Kairi Vara and one granddaughter, Roselynn, on the way.

Veronica was preceded in death by her parents; her aunts, Chris Burchfield and Daniele Christine Griffith; cousins, Clara Jorene Smothers and David Richard Smothers and her nephews, Norman William Long and twins, Chris and Daniel Vara.
